A local governing body embarked on a mission to resolve decades long issues for many local municipalities related to drought, regulatory compliance, and sustainable water supplies. The water source contains approximately 10.5 billion gallons at capacity. With a safe-yield in excess of 60 million gallons per day (mgd) the water source presented a solution to the problem of supply. Somerset Engineering was tasked with obtaining all permits for the construction of a 6 mgd treatment plant, over 20 miles of transmission line, ground storage reservoirs, and associated pump stations. We also assisted with the development campaign that resulted in committed sales in excess of 1 mgd prior to commencement of construction. We were charged with final design of transmission line including final alignment and landowner negotiations. On behalf of the County, we negotiated and assisted in obtaining over 180 private easements for pipeline installation. The distribution system remains the largest municipal public works project completed within the county.
